Project details

Front Line was founded in Dublin in 2001 with the specific aim of protecting human rights defenders at risk, people who work, non-violently, for any or all of the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

Front Line aims to address some of the needs identified by defenders themselves, including protection, networking, training and access to international bodies that can take action on their behalf.

In response to concerns expressed by human rights defenders about the challenges of addressing more effectively issues around security, Front Line has developed a program of capacity building activities and resources in cooperation with other organizations.

One of the key issues currently being addressed through the training programme is the question of stress management and how we can help HRDs cope with the stress created by their work.

From 23 to 25 September 2008, Front Line organized a 3-day training for human rights defenders from around the world. Two of them were not fluent in English, the main language spoken during the training.
